Creating Fields

What are document fields

As seen in the Quick Set up and Creating  Document types sections, Document Types can be created upon defining at least one Field.

Think of Fields as the properties or search criteria that Sales teams often use when locating documents. 

Fields allow users to classify documents by specific properties, helping maintain organization across your documents.

Here are some examples:

  • For invoices, you might use an "Issue Date" field (Date type) to track the number of invoices issued over time.
  • For project plans, a "Project Description" field (Text type) could help users find specific plans.
  • If you classify price lists by language or currency, a "Select" field could be useful to filter documents based on these categories.

This video will walk you through creating a "Select" field type in OneNode for Pipedrive.

1. Cloud storage documents

Imagine an organization where Invoices, Proposals, and Price Lists are the three most commonly used type of documents stored in the Cloud. These are called Document types in One Node. Now let's assume the company has two types of Price Lists: Standard and Discounted. This is really important! You always need to create fields before you can create document types.

2. Open One Node

Let's go ahead and create a field called "category" to distinguish Standard from Discounted price lists.

3. Click on: "Settings"

When the OneNode panel opens, Click on the Settings button
Click on: 'Settings'

4. Click on the tab: "Fields"

From the Settings panel, click on the "Fields" tab.

5. Click "Add new field"

Let's call the new field "Price List Category". Proceed to create it by clicking on the "Add new field" button.

6. Type the Field Label

Type the label in the "Field label"box. We will name this field "Price List Category"

7. Choose the Field Type: "Select"

Since we have two categories to select from: Standard and Discounted, choose the field type "Select" from the dropdown by clicking on the arrow. Watch the Field Types video to learn about other types of fields.

8. Add Options to Select from

This will open up the Options below, where you can add multiple categories of prices by Clicking on the "Add new option" button and typing the categories.

9. Field type created

That's it! You have created a Field for the Price List Document Type which will allow you to distinguish Standard and Discounted price lists. Think of price lists in different currencies, languages, tailored to partners or for direct customers.
